Underworld Combat

Movement

In the Underworld during combat Characters can move up to a certain distance per Round. The distance for each Character is up to 2 times their Movement number in feet.

Attacking

There are Attack Tables for each Character Vocation, one for Normal Humans, and one for all other Creatures.

To hit, roll at least the target number as indicated on the Creature or Character’s Attack table. This target number is determined by comparing the attacker’s Level against their target’s Defence.

When Creatures attack Normal Humans, they get one attack for each of their Hit Dice. Any addition to the attacker’s Hit Dice are added to one of the attack rolls.

Characters and Creatures versus each other get just one attack.

All rolls to hit will be modified by Magic Mrmour and Magic Weaponry where applicable if either combatant is using such items.

Characters Attacking

Each Vocation has their own table to determine their attack chance against Creatures. See the Character Vocation rules for these tables.

Compare the attacking Character’s Vocation Level with their target’s Defence on the table to see what the target number is that they need to hit. Roll 1d20 and make any relevant modifications to the number on the dice. If the result is equal to or greater than the number from the table, then they scored a hit.

If the target is a sleeping Dragon, then the Dragon cannot act during the first round of combat, and the attack roll is modified by +2

Creatures Attacking

Compare the attacking creature’s number of Hit Dice with their target’s Defence. The Referee must roll 1d20 and get equal to or greater than the number shown for the Creature to hit their target.

Ranged Attacks

Ranged attacks use the same tables as detailed above.

Hits

When an attack hits, the Creature hit will suffer some points of damage, and possibly additional effects depending on the Creature that attacked.

Damage

Each hit doed 1d6 points of damage unless otherwise stated.

Damage points are subtracted from the hit Creature’s current hit points.

Level Loss

When their attack hits, some Creatures cause Level Loss to their target.

This causes the target’s Vocation Level to be reduced by 1. Any benefits they received from their previous Vocation Level increase are removed. Their experience points must be reduced to put them 1 point below the amount needed to achieve the Vocation Level that they just lost.

If a Creature’s Vocation Level is reduced to 0, then they die.

Some Creatures cause multiple Levels to be lost in one hit. In these cases, apply the above effect once for each Level lost.
