Characters of certain Vocations may attempt to expand the spells available for their Vocation by researching new spells.
Researching new spells can be done at any Vocation Level.
The new Spell’s Level is determined by the Referee.
The Character can only research a new spell that is equal to or less than the highest Spell Level that they are currently able to remember.
The Spell Level determines the minimum gold and time in weeks required to have a chance at successfully researching the spell.
More gold can be spent to increase the chance of success.
Spell Level | Minimum Cost in GP | Weeks |
---|---|---|
1 | 2,000 | 1 |
2 | 4,000 | 2 |
3 | 8,000 | 3 |
4 | 16,000 | 4 |
5 | 32,000 | 5 |
6 | 64,000 | 6 |
For every multiple of the minimum gold for the spell level, there is a 20% chance of success which is cumulative.
Multiple of Minimum Gold Spent | Chance of Success |
---|---|
1 | 20% |
2 | 40% |
3 | 60% |
4 | 80% |
5 | 100% |
To successfully research the spell, roll under the Chance of Success on a d100.
If successful, the researcher may include the new Spell it in their Spell Book.
The new spell can be taught to others.
